"Born to be Colored Together is 102 pages of one of the best love stories I've ever read. I place it in the category of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and Ernest Lehmans " West Side Story" with a totally updated delightful twist. Blessed with true love, main characters, Darryl and Dawn will have you glued to every page. A revelation and profound insight to the African and

Native American tradition and culture, it deeply pulls at your heartstring of young love. A story of two people whom endure, hope and survive an innocent love. I find it to be a literary masterpiece bound for a best sellers list. The fact that it was written aboard a Navy ship while fighting in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to entertain his troops, makes Manly E. Hogg a man amongst men!!

An excellent read.

Who knew you would grow up to be so romantic smart and accomplished !!! I know there's about 80% truth and 15% build up.

Those 102 pages were some of the best pages I ever read and I'm an avid reader and have many books of all kinds. Your story put tears in my eyes. Such a real yet creative piece of work I have to call it a literary masterpiece!!!!

Back story was that was my journey from the all white school I graduated early and volunteered for summer school so I could keep playing with my drums in concert band and I was so good at it lol I was DECA prepared for delayed entry program straight into the Navy hahaha but I got to go on to higher levels of education and the GI bill was guaranteed yes sir and when I was bussed to Queens I was naturally way ahead of my peers in a school my parents couldn’t even attend so I appreciated the sacrifices that they made to get me that head start real talk
